Gavouna
Gavouna is the alias of Athens-born, London based Athanasios Argianas, who studied under a pupil of Xenakis and Berio.
With previous releases on ‘Melodic’ and ‘Arable’ Gavouna had carved a reputation as a purveyor of delicate soundscapes that offer dreamlike experimental joy.
There’s really little to compare with the felling his music evokes..perhaps Arthur russell in his most oblique and gentle…early penguin café orchestra…half heard folk music on a far away isle…almost too fragile to absorb and yet imbued with a lasting emotional resonance rarely found in this world of electronic rough and tumble…
‘unfathomably warm, heart wrenching orchestral instrumentation that fuses aphex twins vulnerable side with the measured emotion of steve reich. An absolute wonder.’ – dummy
