Bowie Endorsed Charlie Alex March, New EP out soon.
The follow up to the critically acclaimed ‘When the Clouds Clear EP’, ‘In The End’ sees Charlie further developing the notion of stripped down pop songs - that’s songs, not tracks - with an emotional sensibility that you don’t hear a great deal of these days. Featuring four concise tunes, none longer than two and a half minutes, the EP opens with a cover of Daniel Johnston’s classic ‘True Love Will Find You in The End’, replacing the lo-fi arrangement of the original with beautifully orchestrated strings and delicate vocals. Next up, ‘Piano Song’ is reminiscent of Nico at her most melodic, whilst ‘Thinking of You’, marries gamelan clang with stately piano. The EP closes with the seductive, drifting vibes of ‘When The Clouds Clear’, aptly described as sounding like ‘Steve Reich having tea with Ray Coniff’.

‘In The End’ sees Charlie continuing his collaboration with Joe Mount, AKA Metronomy, who produced the EP, as well as High Llamas member Dominic Murcott (string arrangementsand vibraphone) and The Elysian Quartet (Hot Chip, Simon Fisher-Turner and Max De Wardener) who bow and pluck with dextrous aplomb.
Charlie is currently finishing a remix for The Klaxons and working on his debut album with High Llamas’ main man (and arranger extraordinaire) Sean O`Hagan.

This release comes in three (!!!) formats: a 5” CD in a cardboard wallet, juicy orange vinyl 7” with artwork by Yokoland (limited to 400 copies) and the extremely limited 7” version, housed on a 42”x42” board along with the artwork print, overlayed with screen printed titles (a spectacular piece, with only 100 copies available world-wide).

“A beautiful glockenspeil and string led instrumental that gently comes and goes in under three minutes. Delightful.”
David Bowie

Charlie Alex March: Vigilante
We don't have full details on this at the moment, but apparently Charlie was on his way home last night when he saw a girl being mugged. He valiantly intervened, possibly represented by a gut full of booze, and narrowly missed being stabbed up ya get me. He is currently being questioned by the police (as a witness), as the mugger, clearly incensed at being thwarted by a wiry musician with thick glass spectacles, went on to stab someone else later that night. Charlie (AKA Digital Bronson) is absolutely fine and currently strutting around New Cross like a pixellated peacock hero.

THREE CHEERS FOR CHARLIE ALEX MARCH!!

Vincent Oliver’s Folks, A Faulty Chopper, Shirley Bassey
Sounds like someone’s been at the naughty channel again, but truth being stranger than fiction, this really happened. After terrifying the shroom-addled mud pixies at Glastonbury with her bellowing voice and gold plated bingo wings, Dame Shirley legged it from the festival in a gyro-copter which was forced to make an emergency landing when it developed mechanical problems. Of all the back gardens in all the world, the ailing whirlybird spluttered to a halt in that of LOAF star Vincent Oliver’s mum and dad. Alighting next to Vincent’s prized Swingball, the star responded to questions like ‘My son makes music. Do you know him’ and ‘Is Tom Jones really your daughter’ with professional disinterest. A collaboration is imminent. Pictured, Mr and Mrs O and the flying carriage. Bassey out of shot, instructing her PA to ‘Get me away from these people!’

Batfinks “Towards the Pipet” – Out June 4th.Batfinks was born in 2008 minus 26 years in Manchester. Living in what can only be described as one massive Flipflop, his dad would beat him and Brother David with Banjo Licks. Then after tea, around 8 of the clock they would be forced to sit with the old folk in halls all over Manchester
listening to drones of “its a long way to tipperary” . Batfinks would then rush home and clean his mind with the old Stu Allen (aHAheHEE) shows and whatever else he could find on the radio.
Whilst in the early years of school, he was introduced by a small sparrow to a Jim Noir. They straight away found that if they combined their knowledge of nothing then they could soon create something, and then for the next 18 or so years did just that. Creating nonsense noise, gigging, breaking there instruments and throwing sausage rolls at each other.

What strange and marvelous music it is, twisted pop beyond your wildest dreams and perhaps beyond your endurance so malignantly and magically warped it is. ELO, Aphex Twin, The Beach Boys, Kate Bush and Frank Zappa all fried up and served with a double helping of rave
noodles.

‘It’s music Jim but not as we know it’.

Gavouna “Falling EP” – Out now!
With previous releases on melodic and arable gavouna has quietly carved a reputation as a purveyor of delicate soundscapes that offer dreamlike experimental
joy. There’s really little to compare with the felling his music evokes..perhaps Arthur russell in his most oblique and gentle…early penguin café orchestra…half heard folk music on a far away isle…almost too fragile to absorb and yet imbued with a lasting emotional resonance rarely found in this world of electronic rough and tumble…

Limited edition include an art print and short film by Athanasios Argianas.

‘Widescreen soundscapes’ say dj mag

‘unfathomably warm, heart wrenching orchestral instrumentation that fuses aphex twins vulnerable side with the measured emotion of steve reich. An absolute wonder.’ - dummy

‘Meticulously hand crafted, delicate precision’ – idj

‘Heartfelt organic warmth’– jockey slut

‘Incredibly delicate…often dreamlike, gentle experimental joy’ – xlr8r
